Regardless of the outcome of the SEC Championship, it looks like Alabama is headed to another College Football Playoff. The Crimson Tide were the only Power Five team who were undefeated heading into college football’s championship weekend.
Assuming Alabama hangs on to the top seed in the final rankings, their two most likely opponents are either Washington or Ohio State. Heavy’s latest projections have them squaring off with Ohio State believing that the Buckeyes will be the fourth seed as the only team in the College Football Playoff to not be a conference champion.
If Ohio State is able to hold on to the second seed, Alabama will likely face Washington.
Things could change if Clemson were to be upset by Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship. This opens up the possibility of Michigan, Wisconsin or Penn State making the playoff.
What we do know is if Alabama makes the College Football Playoff, they will play in either the Fiesta or Peach Bowl. The game will kick off at either 3 or 7 p.m. Eastern on New Year’s Eve.
The official announcement will be made on Sunday, December 4th on ESPN’s selection show which kicks off at 12 p.m. Eastern.
